I’ve been working on changing my brake pads today. I removed the lug nuts with cross pattern wrench and was able to reinstall them. I tired using my torque wrench to tighten them to the specified limit. When I use the 7/8 socket, it slips. The 13/16 doesn’t really fit well, but on the cross wrench I used the 13/16.
I have a 06 Mustang GT. Am I using the wrong size or do I need to replace them?

06 GT?
Chances are your lug nuts are not SAE sized. Does the wheel stud have an M on it?
I’d try a 21mm socket.

Seconded. Needs 21mm.

Chances are your lug nuts are not SAE sized.
Chances are anything on a car built after the 90s is not SAE.

Probably metric, but also often buts of a 2 piece variety will “swell” after being removed a few times because the shell material stretches and shifts. That’s why stuff like this exists...

21mm solved it.
Thanks for the help!
